As the new year begins, most of us find ourselves thinking about how fast the last year went and wonder what the year ahead will bring.
Did your youngest child start to school this last year?
Did you celebrate a monumental birthday?
Did you change your marital status?
Did you retire from work?
Since the past is no longer with us, it’s time to focus on what the future will bring.
Will you be looking at a new location this next year?
Will you be getting a new or different vehicle?
Will your first grandchild be born?
Will you be starting a new job?
The future is always a mystery – since we can’t predict it. We may dream of how we’d like the future to be, or we may plan for a certain future trip or job or family event. But, we can’t know for sure what exactly will come about.
However, there’s one thing that we can take control over, concerning our future, and that’s making a will. Everyone should have a will. Creating one will help plan and protect your future.
You may have specific ideas about your property, like:
- Who will be my beneficiaries?
- Who will take care of my pet?
- Who will receive great-granny’s valuable jewelry?
- Who will arrange my funeral service?
- Who will make sure all of my intentions are carried out?
There are many, many questions and issues that may arise once we are gone from this life. Just to make things easier, it’s best to put everything down on paper.
